Though not a huge issue, I found myself having to take my hand off the prong to reach the Start button to pause a game, which adds a bit of extra time to the motion and effectively got me killed in Call of Duty 2 when I needed to pick up the phone in the midst of a firefight.
The biggest change on the new version of the Game Pad Pro is the analog control. As we noted at the beginning, the first version had analog thumb pads that simply stood too high above the controller. Pressing a stick all the way to the left put the thumb pad at such an angle that it was hard to not slip off. The re-released version completely solves this problem. The sticks are on a much shorter stalk now, and the difference is night and day.
The device MadCatz uses to gauge analog movement is firm and solid, and now that the sticks are short, the controller has a rather uniquely sweet feel. Whereas the official MS pad's sticks can feel a little springy in their resistance and movement back to neutral center, the Game Pad Pro now has a strong, mechanical feel.
The difference in styles is immediately apparent in a game like Dead or Alive 4. Movements on the Game Pad Pro feel deliberate and controlled, while the MS pad feels almost a little sloppy in comparison.
Depressing the sticks for R3 and L3 also feel a bit more "mechanical" and solid than the MS pad. Shoulder buttons remain the same on the old and new Game Pad Pros, which is to say, excellent. The MadCatz pad greatly expands the size of the bumper buttons and gives them more space, which is an excellent change for games like CoD2 that use the buttons a lot.
The triggers are also greatly improved, with a much longer throw than the official pad and an increased sense of analog rather than digital contact. Voltage control. Safety contactor driver. Parking brake driver for vehicle applications. Other inputs: Emergency stop. Software updates via uSD card [coming soon are mapped throttle curves, current control mode, closed loop RPM control, and others]. Based on a specialised Infineon microprocessor with deadtime control to prevent shoot through mosfet failures.
Options The Pro can be built in a variety of specifications to give exactly what you want; Voltage — the standard specification is 12V — 48V, but by fitting uprated mosfets and capacitors the upper voltage can be raised to 84V. The display can be detached and mounted remotely, either on its own or on the adaptor board that has its own keypad. Heatsink — the standard heatsink is suitable for many applications, for higher loads we have enhanced air cooled heatsinks and water cooled versions.
Simple to fit The Pro has all the essential control inputs on one 6-way connector. The full instruction manual is on the support tab. Safety The microprocessor monitors the controller and parts of the external system.
Versatile With a range of voltage, display, and cooling options the Pro is ideal for use in electric boats, larger model locos, golf buggies, and industrial applications. Coming soon….. Display power [watts]. Display speed [mph]. Pictures Pro with the display mounted on board — it can be read through the standard perspex cover.
Support The manual provides full instructions on setting up and operating the controller. The manual is available in PDF format: Read manual The manual is designed to be printed double-sided in A4 booklet format. Software versions Full details of the software version history are now on this page. If you want a quick look at the menu structure, here it is…. Accessories Temperature sensor.
You may also need some or all of the following: A throttle mechanism to control the motor speed. Switches e. Control cable to connect the switches and throttle to the controller. Nice question. When you create a virtual controller, there may occur double input both from the physical and virtual gamepads. Or the game will just focus on the physical gamepad and ignore all the mappings you have added in the config, which is also definitely not the thing you are trying to achieve. So basically, what you need to do is to open Preferences — General, and check if Hide physical controller when the virtual one is added.
The game will recognize the physical controller as the main one, and when you switch to the virtual gamepad — the physical gamepad is hidden from the system, and the game ignores the virtual reWASD controller. Then you need to check your Windows Startup preferences. Then try to launch the game, and check if your controller works. We truly hope that you will not have any problems using our Xbox controller emulator and that your experience will only be positive.
We can do our best to help you, and figure out every tiny detail that could have caused the problem. Though not a huge issue, I found myself having to take my hand off the prong to reach the Start button to pause a game, which adds a bit of extra time to the motion and effectively got me killed in Call of Duty 2 when I needed to pick up the phone in the midst of a firefight.
Head and shoulders get it? MadCatz also made some serious changes to the shoulder buttons and triggers, markedly improving the Microsoft design. The MadCatz pad greatly expands the size of the bumper buttons and gives them more space, which is an excellent change for games like CoD2 that use the buttons a lot. The triggers are also greatly improved, with a much longer throw than the official pad and an increased sense of analog rather than digital contact.
Driving games especially benefit from this change, as the greater range of motion on the triggers allows for better variation of throttle and breaks. Sometimes walking tall isn't such a good idea. Unfortunately, the success of the triggers does not carry over to other aspects of the GamePad Pro's analog control. The analog sticks stand extremely tall over the face of the controller and sit upon very narrow stalks.
The official pad's sticks are rather squat and recessed, minimizing the angle at which the sticks lean over at the full extreme of a direction. Because the GamePad Pro's sticks sit much higher, the angle at which the sticks lean over at the limits of their input range is much more severe.
