Wonderful book to read, I really loved this one. Spellbound is pages long divided over a Prolog, fifty-two numbered chapters, and an Epilog.

It stopped dragged when it finally reached the climax, which was riveting, and then the resolution which wrapped up s I quite enjoyed this book, and the beginning was made all the more better by including a brief synopsis of part of the first book, which allowed me to recall other parts of the story and better place what was occurring in context. It is a superb book, and a unique book with its own ideas, themes and rules. Spellbound is the second volume in The Spellwright Trilogy after Spellwright.

I also especially liked the details of sprllbound air wardens, lofting kites, air ships and hierophants. Aug 26, Diana Thayer rated it really liked it. A good way of fitting concepts people are familiar with into the world created here. The cast from the first book blaek Weal, Deidre, Magister Shannon—and continue their plight to prevent the Disjunction, whilst keeping Nicodemus safe, now exiled from Starhaven and his studies, considered a murderer and a dangerous cacographer.

Meanwhile, fantasy tropes are still present in Boakebut not nearly the hindrance they were in Spellwright. It might be there, or it might be an artifact of editing. Spellwright is his first novel. The story, characters, and dense ideas are so layered and interwoven that it could have been a big mess, but he keeps it all straight and easy to understand.
