Autocad 2006 with vista

Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Paul. Message 2 of 3. Anyhow, some people have got it to run for some extent with XP compatibility mode and running it as administrator. Autodesk's policy in the few messages from their people seems to be that they'll release a compatibility patch for in a few months. For they are not doing anything, if I understood those correctly.

Post by stevemac » Tue May 22, am Hi Jim, I've installed the 3DWare driver as administrator and now I have some movement being translated to Autocad which is a positive step. Only thing now is that not all translations work. Push and pull zoom are OK. Spin gives nothing. Also the profile doesn't identify Autocad as such as it does on my XP machine these problems are all on Vista.

It just comes up as an Any application profile. Also there are no toolbars in Autocad. There are some ARX files in the Autocad plug ins Are these loaded automatically or do I have to load these applications manually? To sum up what I did in case this is useful for other users. I have Autocad running under Vista. Install Autocad using the Windows compatability wizard so that it runs as administrator. There is a confirmation dialogue box to ask if this is OK when you run this.

Install the 3dxware software. Come for the solution, stay for everything else. Welcome to our community! The operating system warned when we upgraded that AutoCAD would not be able to run properly but we wanted to check if maybe someone was able to change some settings to get AutoCAD to work on a Vista business Machine.

Here is what I did. I don't know if this is one of Microsoft's mistakes on Vista, some 64bit vs 32bit issues or just some biz strategy by Microsoft but I think this is just one of those similar problems we had when Windows 98 became old school. Anyways, I got it working by asking it to run in compatibility mode for windows XP. To set the compatibility properties for a program manually Right-click the program icon on your desktop or the shortcut on the Start menu for the program you want to run, and then click Properties.
