The head is made of carbon, allowing engineers to lower the CG in order for the ball to launch higher off the tee and ground.
Another piece of technology that has transferred over to the Mini Driver from TaylorMade's fairway woods is the V-Steel Sole, which was present on TaylorMade's older woods and has been reincarnated. The 54g plate has been redesigned to provide the best possible turf interaction and launch the ball high with low spin. The Mini Driver is available in either You can watch my full review via the Golfalot YouTube channel here:.
The Mini Driver does look better than the Original One of in my opinion, as the Lonsdale-style logo has disappeared from the sole and the cheap-looking headcover has been much improved. Their is a nice balance between vintage and contemporary. Down by the ball, the clubhead doesn't really seem that much bigger in size to one of the bigger fairway woods like the Callaway Epic Max.
The crown is all black with a subtle white TaylorMade logo to help you line the ball up. The carbon look means that it is similar in design to the SIM2 Driver , albeit much more conservative in colour - I liked it. The face is a traditional steel colour which matches the V-Steel plate on the sole, and the Speed Pocket and rear weight are clearly visible.
The design is similar to the old Series driver, but with the added technology of a modern club. The looks are an improvement on the Original One and the solid feel is also slightly better too.
I was very happy with the consistency of my striking and this was reflected in the consistency of the numbers produced too. Hitting from a mat does mean that you get a perfect lie every time though, and so I imagine that things could be a little different when hitting from the fairway or even longer grass, if that's what you wanted to use this club for. The average driver is around And when it comes to driver technology, TaylorMade made sure they have your back.
The Speed Pocket also helps if you want to pull off hitting off the deck. Overall, the Original One Mini Driver offers an impressive performance.
This state-of-the-art technology rounds the sole of the M4 even more to enhance its feel and response. It also comes with the Twist Face technology to help you get straighter shots, especially when you miss the sweet spot.
This produces additional distance and forgiveness. In most cases, the M4 comes with a 4-degree adapter sleeve.
Get a golf buddy to go with you. That person can help you keep track of your score and sign your card later. They have computers, which keeps your scores and updates your handicap.
Course rating tells scratch golfers those who have around a zero handicap the difficulty of a golf course. Slope rating tells bogey golfers those with a handicap of 20 or 24 the difficulty of a golf course in relation to the course rating.
The loft of a driver can have a significant effect to the accuracy of your drives and the flight and travel distance of your golf ball. So, what loft should you choose for your newest taylor made driver? Driver loft, more often than not, is based on your assessed swing speed. For instance, if you have a good swing speed between and mph , choose a TaylorMade driver with a loft between 7 and 9 degrees. Rule of the Rules of Golf says a golf ball should be fairly struck with any part of the head of a golf club.
To effectively do that, a golfer should be standing on either the left or right side of the ball in relation to the target. That means the taylormade driver head should have the correct shape for either a right-handed player or a left-handed player. The company's drivers earned the nickname "Pittsburgh Persimmon" as TaylorMade used steel rather than persimmon to construct their drivers.
Adams and Streck started stamping it on the toe of all their drivers, and it developed into one of their strongest lines throughout the s.
In , the Burner and Tour Burner were introduced and the company boasted tour pros as product ambassadors. By , the Burner became the No. Curtis Strange won the U. Open with a Burner driver, giving TaylorMade its first major championship. The M2 was clearly better for me.
In my opinion, the M1 is harder to hit and it was designed more for tour players and the M2 was for mid to high handicaps with slower swing speeds. I personally liked the M2 a lot more and had better distance and accuracy with it.
The launch angle was also nice and high, which helped improve distance. The newer M6 driver was so much more forgiving though. The M2 feels solid and the distance is just as good as any other driver out there.
