Putting the CD into my computer didn't have any effect on the program. So here I am, using another computer, not sure what to do or how to address the issue. If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I came to work today to see how the computer was functioning and I had the same problem as last time. I decided to open the computer in Safe Mode with Networking, and I was able to access the internet. I ran a scan with Malwarebytes and several other programs and nothing came up, so I figured it was a problem with Norton itself.
However, I still couldn't manually uninstall the program. I tried to update my version from 4. Sending the report, however, did not work because a message would open up that said Norton was not installed on the computer. At that point I downloaded the Symantec Removal Tool and removed all traces of Norton while still in safe mode. I then switched back to "normal" mode and Norton updated itself to the 5.
So far it is running nicely, along with my internet. Perhaps there was a program error, but in case this happens to anyone, remove the program with the removal tool and reinstall.
Was there any other security software on the machine when you installed Norton? If so, how was that removed? When you originally ran the scans, was anything found to be malicious?
Have you installed any other security software since the Norton installation? No, I did not install any security software before or after installing Norton. During the scans it didn't find any malicious software either. Back to top. Reg: Feb Kudos 1 Stats. Hello everyone.
