Feel free to post back if you have other concerns. At first the text I am typing stops appearing on screen. Within seconds I get the rainbow swirl, but only over my Word screen. If I don't force quit, my computer's fan starts running and it eventually crashes on its own. This has happened both where I have autosave on saving to OneDrive , and when saving to my hard drive. Every time this happens I usually lose about minutes of work, or longer if saving to my hard drive.

I'm working on a new computer with 16GB of Ram. No other apps have this problem, so I don't think this is a hardware issue. There's a I've got my fingers crossed it will fix this crash. Go to the Help menu in any Office application and choose Check for Updates to get the new version.

May I confirm with you which uninstallation methods you perform to uninstall Office application, either from Control Panel or Uninstall Tool? If you perform the uninstallation from Control Panel, there would be some configuration and caches files of Office still remain in your computer.

I suggest you can try to uninstall Office with Uninstall support tool to completely uninstall Office from your computer.
